SUMMARY:Introduction to Nature Photography
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with The Scarborough Public Library\, please join instructor Dan Kehlenbach for a class on Nature Photography. \nWhether alone or with others\, exploring nature with a camera is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the world around you. Nature is everywhere– you don’t have to travel to far-off destinations to make photographs. \nRequirements for class: \n\nNo experience necessary! This class is geared for the complete beginner. People with experience will also benefit from the presentations.\nA digital camera of any kind\nComputer or mobile device to edit photos (or use the library computers)\nClass notes will be provided\nRegistration for all six classes is required\n\nParticipants will learn: \n\nPhotographic techniques for a wide range of nature subjects\nEthics of nature photography and responsible practices\nProcessing photos in the “digital darkroom”\nAn appreciation for nature and skills for an enjoyable lifelong pursuit\n\nCourse Outline: \n\nIntroduction to nature photography\, cameras\, and gear — Tuesday\, April 25\, 6:30PM-7:30PM\nLandscape and scenics — Saturday\, April 29\, 1PM-2:30PM. SUMMARY:Wildflower Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join the Scarborough Land Trust for a wildflower walk at Warren Woods on Saturday\, May 13th. Program Lead Becky Warren Seel has deep family connections to this property and is very knowledgeable about the wildflowers that grow there and where to find them. We hope to see Rhodora\, Mayflowers\, a number of other spring flowers\, and possibly some Lady Slippers. Parking is limited and pre-registration is required. Wear boots for wet areas and bring bug spray for ticks. If you have a wildflower field guide\, we encourage participants to bring it along. SUMMARY:Bird Walk with Andrew Mackie
DESCRIPTION:Join Andrew Mackie\, SLT’s Executive Director\, and Eddie Woodin for an afternoon bird walk at Broadturn Farm. Andrew and Mr. Woodin will take participants on a short hike and help participants identify birds they observe along the way.   \nThis program will be geared towards beginning and intermediate birders but all ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend. Be prepared to walk about 1 mile. Binoculars\, bug spray\, sturdy walking shoes\, and long pants are strongly recommended. Remain tick and insect aware. Registration is required for all participants. If you have a bird guide\, we encourage you to bring it along.
