SUMMARY:Pollinator Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Deborah Perkins\, “The Personal Ecologist” and owner of First Light Wildlife Habitats\, on a Pollinator Walk around Broadturn Farm. It’s a great time of the year – let’s get outside! Meet our native pollinators out in their native habitat. Observe\, identify\, and understand these fascinating insects. Farm\, field\, or forestland\, you can see these great species at work. Learn the ecological and anthropogenic importance of pollinators\, as well as what habitats they prefer. \n  \nThis event has a rain date of August 10th. \nDeborah Perkins is a wildlife ecologist with 30 years of field experience and a lifelong commitment to conservation. As “The Personal Ecologist” and owner of First Light Wildlife Habitats\, Deb co-creates biodiverse habitats with stewards throughout the Northeast –at any scale. Since 2010 she has provided recommendations\, plans\, and designs for over 14\,000 acres of habitat. Deb’s infectious enthusiasm and dynamic speaking style leave people feeling inspired\, hopeful\, and ready to take action. Before settling down in her native state of Maine\, she was a roving field biologist for many years – conducting fieldwork and wildlife research throughout North America in a wide range of habitats\, from the deserts of New Mexico to the remote tundra landscape of the Canadian Arctic. Deb has researched coastal brown bears on salmon streams in the Alaskan wilderness\, studied Canada Lynx\, crawled into bear dens in the North Maine Woods\, and banded puffins in Downeast Maine.
