Each session weaves together movement\, meditation\, breathwork\, and deep rest—creating space for something beyond just the physical. \nEach 90-minute session follows a format inspired by the Sivananda lineage\, including breathwork\, sun salutations\, and a purposeful progression of postures. SUMMARY:A River Runs Through It: A 'Good News' 'Bad News' Story
DESCRIPTION:Good News: Aquatic systems need clean water to thrive. The paper/pulp industry resulted in the nation’s most polluted rivers occuring right here in Maine – The Androscoggin and Penobscott particularly.  The Clean Water Act of 1972 (Thank You\, Ed Muskie!) resulted in manufacturing changes that eliminated the worst biosolid and chemical discharge practices. Our rivers are once again full of life. \nBad News: Many chemicals are persistent and some are persistent forever. Sediments in the major river deltas are loaded with mercury and dioxins that still require remediation 60 years later.  And where river waters do run clear\, climate disruption and invasive species are wreaking havoc.  \nKate Borduas is a self-described “Adult-onset” Naturalist. A native of coastal Maine\, she spent a number of years in Florida where she trained as a Florida Master Naturalist and as a nationally Certified Interpretive Guide. \nFollowing a life-long\, long-distance love affair with nature\, Kate was delighted to live the life of a naturalist full time while in Florida. She gave frequent walks and talks in Charlotte and Sarasota Counties with a specific focus on Scrub Habitat and the Endangered Florida Scrub Jay. DESCRIPTION:Come meet up with fellow women who enjoy the outdoors and have a desire to walk the wonderful open spaces Scarborough Land Trust has committed to preserving. Women are twice as likely as men to feel uncomfortable walking alone\, so we created this monthly program to foster a fun and supportive community for women to walk together and get to know our preserves. \nThese walks average 60-90 mins in length with a leisurely pace as we observe the landscape and wildlife (migrating birds\, wildflowers\, etc). Bring binoculars or a camera if you are so inclined. Much of the terrain will be flat (either dirt or grass surfaces) but expect that there will brief uphill stretches\, wood crossings for boggy areas\, and some uneven ground (rocks\, tree roots). Trails could be wet with dew or muddy if there have been recent rains\, although we will postpone or reschedule if inclement weather is forecasted during the event itself. As always\, we recommend wearing long pants\, comfortable footwear\, and sunscreen as appropriate. \nParking can be limited on good weather weekends\, so if you are bringing a companion\, please carpool. \nAlthough most SLT properties are dog friendly\, we ask that you not bring dogs to this event. \nSLT rarely cancels programs but occasionally we must\, especially in bad weather. Through stories and readings from their book\, attendees will gain insight into the challenges\, discoveries\, and teamwork that made their journey a success. \nCopies of An Experiment in Birding will be available for purchase and signing following the presentation. \nThis event is free and open to all.
