SUMMARY:Volunteer Work Day at Blue Point Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Please join us at Blue Point Preserve to tackle invasive plant species! We will be continuing habitat restoration work in multiple areas of the preserve. This work will include cutting and piling of brush\, bagging up berries\, digging out stumps and roots\, and cutting bittersweet vines. Bring water\, a snack\, and work gloves. SLT will have tools available\, but feel free to bring your own pruners/loppers/handsaws if you prefer!\n\nWork will be lead by Lead Steward George and SLT staff Hailey and Lauren.\n\nIf you plan on attending\, please RSVP Yes to Hailey at hnase@scarboroughlandtrust.org.\n\nAdditional parking at the church.

DESCRIPTION:Join Heather Richard\, the new Scarborough Marsh Program Director\, for informal office hours. This is a chance to introduce yourself\, learn about current marsh projects and restoration efforts\, ask questions\, share ideas\, and discuss what matters most to you about the future of Scarborough Marsh. \nHeather grew up in Gorham\, ME and is finishing up her PhD at the University of Maine. She studied Marine Biology and microplastics before she began her work as a microbiologist in salt marshes looking upstream and downstream of tidal culverts to better understand how culvert improvements alter the salt marsh microbiome. \nThis will be a hybrid in-person/virtual event so you can join from wherever you are or come say hello in person.
