SUMMARY:CANCELLED Invasive Species Training
DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED–\nThose planning to attend the removal day on Sept 10 or Sept 24 can receive a short training at the beginning of the work day.\nUnder the guidance of our Stewardship Director\, learn how to identify and combat invasive species at Scarborough Land Trust properties and in your own backyard! Invasive species are organisms that are non-native to a particular area and cause harm to the environment where they are introduced. Every year the SLT stewardship committee and a team of dedicated volunteers work hard to manage and fight the spread of invasive species across properties. We need your help identifying these species and working to remove them before they spread. \nAll ages welcome\, although children must be accompanied by an adult. Be prepared to walk a short distance\, potentially off the maintained trail. We encourage stewardship volunteers to bring their own tools\, if they have them\, including gloves\, loppers\, trimmers\, shovels\, and any Personal Protective Equipment. We recommend wearing long pants\, comfortable footwear\, and applying bug spray. Remain tick and insect aware. \nAll trainings will take place at Pleasant Hill Preserve. \nThere will be trainings every other Tuesday starting August 9 and ending September 20. \nTrail works days will also be scheduled on Saturdays this summer\, and location of those will change each month. After volunteers have been trained they are encouraged to be autonomous and schedule additional work days for themselves and other volunteers. \nThere is no need to register but we ask that all participants fill out the Liability and Photo Release Form and Volunteer Form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPFXO-twK88yEnwbO7IJ59W3LBfepg9GUW6ofrDwAcBNWAXA/viewform \nQuestions?\nContact Sami at swolf@scarboroughlandtrust.org
