SUMMARY:GapTracks: Assessing Both Wildlife and Human Use of the Eastern Trail’s GAP section
DESCRIPTION:The GapTracks Project began in February of 2017 by deploying game cameras to assess the wildlife community before\, during\, and after trail construction along the Eastern Trail and Nonesuch River in Scarborough. The goal of this project is to document and share (via Facebook\, Instagram\, public presentations) wildlife and human use this amazing forest\, marsh and river; we hope to make management recommendations on how to best balance human and wildlife use of this important resource. \nThis project is run by Dr. Noah Perlut and students from the University of New England\, including the Terrestrial Wildlife class\, who will present their research on this long-term monitoring project. This presentation is offered in partnership with UNE\, the Eastern Trail Alliance\, and the Scarborough Land Trust.

SUMMARY:Big Trees of Northern New England
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Friends of Scarborough Marsh\, we will be hosting a presentation on big trees! \nThis program will highlight important trees in Maine and specifically the Portland area. It will also explore history and connections to wildlife. \nKevin Martin is an author and boatbuilder. He has over 40 years of experience working with wood. He served on the Epping Conservation Commission\, was chair of the Lamprey River Advisory Committee and State Coordinator for the NH Big Tree Program. Kevin is trained for the National Big Tree Measurers Cadre. \nKevin will be selling his new book about hikes to Big Trees.
