SUMMARY:Life Cycle Gardening: Planting for Pollinators at All Life Stages
DESCRIPTION:We often think of pollinator gardens as places full of colorful wild flowers\, abuzz with insects. Those flowers are vital for adult bees\, moths\, and butterflies but trees and shrubs play critical roles at different life stages of these pollinators. Join Kelly Corbin\, owner of Living Landscapes Maine\, to learn more about the importance of adding shrubs and trees to our gardens. This talk will cover: \n\nHow pollinators use woody plants to complete their life cycles.\nNative shrub and tree options for gardens of any size.\nGarden maintenance strategies to promote pollinators.\n\nRegister with the Scarborough Library here: https://scarboroughlibrary.libcal.com/event/16310636 \n  \n

SUMMARY:Apple Pressing and Story Time
DESCRIPTION:Join Scarborough Land Trust and Scarborough Public Library to celebrate apple season with a story time and cider pressing event!\n \nWe will read stories about apple varieties and trees\, then use a press to make cider. \nBring your own apples if you wish to use the press! \nStorytime and cider pressing will be led by Kelly Pietrzak. Kelly loves to work with children: from coaching youth sports\, to leading youth nature hikes\, to homeschooling her own two children. She previously ran a nature education business for preschool aged children and has a Master’s in Education teaching mostly middle school math but also at the elementary and college level. She loves to camp\, tend her ever expanding gardens\, and trail run with the family dog. This is the third year Kelly has led walks for children with Scarborough Land Trust\, and her second year serving on SLT’s Communication\, Education\, and Outreach Committee. \nNo sign up required. \nNote SLT’s Liability and Photo Release
