Birding by Ear Walk

Join Christie Constantine, a Maine Master Naturalist, on a walk identifying birds through sound. Birding by ear opens a whole new dimension in identifying and enjoying the bird life around us.  Many birds are quick, camouflaged, or hidden by foliage—making them difficult to spot. By learning their songs and calls, we can identify them even when they remain out of sight.  We’ll explore the basics of birding by ear, discover why and how birds sing, and practice listening for some of Maine’s common species on a short guided walk.
