CANCELLED: Firefly Watch with Don Salvatore
July 25, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
FreeImage: Photinus firefly by Don Salvatore
Unfortunately this program has been cancelled.
Watching fireflies is a fun summer activity, but it can also help scientists better understand these fascinating beetles! This program will feature an informative talk on fireflies as well as an introduction to citizen science. We will be participating in a citizen science project – observing and counting fireflies. This will be similar to the firefly program in early July, with an added bonus. (Whether you attended that program or not, you are welcome to join us!)
Don Salvatore was a science educator at the Museum of Science in Boston for over 30 years and a curator of the Firefly Watch Citizen Science Project.
We will be walking in the dark, so please bring a flashlight (preferably one with red light capabilities). The entire program takes place outside, please bring appropriate clothing as well as insect repellent. Program suitable for all ages.
Preregistration is required for this event. Those registering as a group are only required to register ONCE, representing the party arriving in their vehicle. Registration capacity is limited by parking.
