Uncover the Hidden Critters of Silver Brook

Join Maine Master Naturalist Christie Constantine for a hands-on outdoor workshop exploring the fascinating world of aquatic insects and other macroinvertebrates living in Silver Brook. Using dip nets along the river’s edge, we’ll collect tiny stream creatures and sort them into trays for close observation.
Together, we’ll learn to identify what we find and explore how these small but mighty organisms form the foundation of the brook’s food web, supporting fish, birds, amphibians, and other wildlife. Because different macroinvertebrates have varying tolerance for pollution, their presence – or absence – offers valuable clues about water quality and overall stream health.
