Light: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Rich, moist to wet soils
Wildlife Benefit: Flowers are food for wildlife and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and pollinator insects. Host plant for 28 different caterpillar species.
Other: Also called Rose Mallow. It’s Mallow family relative, Marsh Mallow, was historically used to make confections (marshmallows). Swamp mallow is edible with a gelatinous consistency.
