The Land
35 acres
Natural Features
Woods, streams and wildlife. Stuart Brook runs through the property, then joins Cascade Brook, which flows to the Dunstan River, which empties into Scarborough Marsh.
History & Current Use
Albert G. Sewell, Jr. donated this land to SLT in 1996. Mr. Sewell owned a sawmill and wood products business, and purchased this land in 1935. His careful stewardship resulted in a mature, healthy forest. From the small parking area, there are 2 loop trails, one named for Mr. Sewell and one named for Bruce Lincoln, a state biologist who played a leading role in the conservation of Scarborough Marsh. Across Ash Swamp Road is the Frith Farm Trail, which ends at a bench overlooking the crop fields of this organic farm. The bench was built and donated by Royce O’Donal. Frith Farm is permanently conserved by Maine Farmland Trust, in partnership with SLT.
