In honor of his very generous bequest to Scarborough Land Trust, a ceremony was held on June 15 to honor Fred Emerson by dedicating the elm tree at Pleasant Hill Preserve as the Emerson Elm. This gift has been added to our endowment to help ensure a stable source of funding to care for the lands entrusted to us.
We were honored that Michael Emerson, a family member of Fred’s (5th from left), was able to join us for a brief ceremony, refreshments, and a walk on Eleanor’s Trail. A plaque on the bench below the Emerson Elm recognizes this generous gift that will benefit the community of Scarborough.
