The public introduction of the future Blue Point Preserve was a great success. On June 1, nearly 40 members of the public joined the board and staff of Scarborough Land Trust for a presentation showing off this future community asset, followed by an optional walk through the property to see Scarborough Marsh from a new perspective.
Scarborough Land Trust is currently fundraising to purchase the property, which consists of two parcels – one owned by the Blue Point Congregational Church and the other by the town of Scarborough. In total, 14 acres will be protected forever to provide a walking trail, public access to see the marsh, wildlife habitat protection, and water quality protection for the Marsh itself. Donations of all sizes are welcome. Click here for more information about the Blue Point Preserve or to make a donation.
Two additional public walks on the property are scheduled for Sunday, June 23 at 3pm and Wednesday, June 26 at 6pm. Please click here to sign up for one of these walks and to receive information about the meeting location.
We thank the Blue Point Congregational Church for their assistance and for allowing us to hold the meeting at the church.
