SLT was awarded 11 grants in 2025 from Federal, State, and Private Foundations totaling over $1.28 million to purchase and conserve land. This is in addition to the $1.28 million in grants awarded from the Town of Scarborough’s Land Bond.
In the year prior, 2024, SLT was awarded 11 grants from Federal, State, and Private Foundations totaling over $1.54 million to purchase and conserve land. This is in addition to the $1.15 million in grants awarded from the Town of Scarborough’s Land Bond funding.
On top of the grants, significant funding for acquisition was also provided by numerous individuals and businesses, including donations to our general Land Acquisition Fund.
These funds supported or will support the acquisition and conservation of 5 new preserves and the expansion of 3 others, totaling over 450 acres!
The grant awards, in addition to those from the Town of Scarborough, came from Land for Maines’ Future, the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund, North American Wetlands Conservation Act, Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, Fields Pond Foundation, William Wharton Trust, Davis Conservation Foundation, Margaret Burnham Charitable Trust, Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, Maine Community Foundation, and the John Sage Foundation.
We’re grateful for the crucial support from all of these partners who share our commitment to conservation and the benefits they provide for people, for wildlife, forever!
