A planned gift will ensure land is conserved and stewarded forever.
Owascoag Society – when you include Scarborough Land Trust in your bequest, you will become a member of our Owascoag Society that pays tribute to Scarborough’s original name meaning “land of many grasses.”
Should you choose to name SLT in your estate plan, please let us know so we can properly thank you and include you in our Owascoag Society.
There are many ways to leave a legacy of land conservation:
Bequest
Often your most significant philanthropic gift will be a transfer of cash, securities, or other assets to Scarborough Land Trust through your estate. This is as simple as adding language to your will. Contact Lisa Detweiler for sample language.
Gifts of Real Estate
Real Estate can be gifted to Scarborough Land Trust for conservation or trade to support the mission of SLT.
Retirement Beneficiary
Name Scarborough Land Trust as a beneficiary of your retirement plans including your IRA, 401(K), 403(B) and other plans.
If you are 70.5 or older, your gift could save you more on your tax bill.
If you are 70.5 or older you are eligible to make tax-free donations from your IRA, known as Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD), regardless of whether you itemize deductions on your tax returns.
Insurance Beneficiary
Name Scarborough Land Trust as a percentage or contingent beneficiary of any life insurance policy.
