Description
Description: Cinnamon Fern is named for the stiff, vertical, fertile fronds that emerge from its center in early spring as a vibrant yellow-green and shift to a striking reddish-brown color. The taller sterile fronds of the fern grow in vase-shaped groups. It does not spread as rapidly as many other fern species.
Height: Typically, 2 – 3 feet, up to 6 feet tall.
Light Requirement: Partial to full shade.
Soil Requirement: Damp to wet soils.
Wildlife Benefit: Birds use fibers from the fern as nesting material. Some birds are said to nest within the fern’s central clumps.
