Description
Description: American witch hazel is a deciduous shrub or small tree. The flowers are bright yellow with slender petals blooming in mid to late fall. The seeds develop over the next season and are expelled by the plant in the fall. An interesting historical use of American witch hazel is using forked limbs as dowsing or diving rods to find water. The leaves, twigs and bark are also used to treat cuts and skin conditions.
