Light: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Medium, well-drained soils
Wildlife Benefit: Flowers attract a variety of butterflies, bees, and other pollinator insects. Host plant for multiple caterpillars including wild indigo duskywing.
Other: Indigenous peoples historically used the plant’s ripened seed pods to make toy rattles and flowers for blue dye. Drought, erosion, and deer resistant. Mildly poisonous if eaten in large quantities.
